Yesterday, when I officially filed to run for Mayor, I was honored that Erin George-Kelly (Ward 12 Alderman running for re-election), Nicole Leapley (Ward 11 Board of School Committee Member, candidate for Ward 11 Alderman), and Liz O’Neil (candidate for Ward 11 Board of School Committee) joined me to file our paperwork.
I am excited to serve with these outstanding leaders, because I know what we can get done for Manchester together.
But first, we have to get elected. And a key step in winning is getting to know our neighbors and talking with them about what’s at stake in this election.
That’s why I’m thrilled to tell you about our first official campaign canvass, this Saturday, July 22, at 1 pm.
We’ll kick things off at my house, 779 Maple Street — and I’d love for you to be there, even if you’ve never knocked on doors for a campaign before.
Canvassing (what we call door-knocking in politics) might seem a bit intimidating. But it’s a great way to get to meet people, and talk with them about issues that matter to them and to Manchester.
If you’re new to it, we’ll help you get prepared and tell you everything you need to know. We’ll also pair you up with an experienced canvasser who can help you get comfortable. By the end of the day, you’ll be a pro!
And if you’re an experienced canvasser, you already know what a difference meeting people at the doors can make — and we very much welcome your experience!
If you have any questions or are feeling uncertain, feel free to reply to this email, or join us Saturday and ask your questions in person. Canvassing can and should be fun, and we want it to be a great experience for everyone.
Will you join us?
